The Honeydogs' "urgent, energetic style of roots rock" makes swift allies of everyone who hears them. But to say they are just a rootsy rock band would be misleading. With their feet dangling in rock, country, blues, rockabilly and their own soulfull hybrid they comfortably straddle the fences of American popular music.

The band is not ashamed of their radio-influenced childhoods; their style and musical sensibilities are an obvious product of their coming of age in 1980's Minneapolis. Adam and Noah Levy are former members of local favorites, The Picadors. Band members have also performed and recorded with Rykodisc artist Martin Zellar, Golden Smog (featuring members of The Jawhawks and Soul Asylum), and Wilco.

Like the raucous good times of the live gig, The Honeydogs' first album delivers on all of Levy's and the band's notions about what the best rock'n'roll has always stood for -- whether it's balls-to-the-walls rockin' or bleary-eyed ballad singing, The Honeydogs go straight for the heart. The album was recorded at Funkytown, Minneapolis, and produced by John Strawberry Fields.
