LOVE-CARS TO REPRESENT UNITED STATES AT CMJ FESTIVAL

Amidst a rich and powerful amalgam of international talent, Minneapolis-based pop foursome Love-cars has been selected to represent its native United States at this year's CMJ Music Fest. Scheduled to perform live at CB's Gallery on Saturday, Nov. 7 at 7pm, the group has vowed to do right by the stars 'n' stripes by sweeping all medals in all events at the festival, and without the aid of anabolic performance enhancers, malt liquor or turntables.

"It's every musician's dream to serve their country well," says guitarist Matthew Foust. "It's what you train for your whole life. We couldn't be more thrilled to represent what is undoubtedly the greatest country since England."

"This one's for Flo-Jo," adds drummer David King.

Together since early 1997, the band remains undefeated in the Midwest Pop/Rock Conference (MPRC), garnering dizzy raves from music scribes, college radio programmers and Las Vegas bookmakers alike. "Love-Cars has come up with the perfect pop weapon," says Jam TV's Lana Fanelli. "They've mastered the art of emo-core styled lyricism and combined it with candy-coated, bubble-gum pop riffs that make the ears happy long after the song has faded. The end result is a guitar-driven pop dream that keeps going, and going... and going." A&E adds, "A year from now, when you're hearing them on the only radio stations that matter, you'll wonder how you lived without this band; don't live without them now."

Key summer victories for the group included a shutout vs. Argentina at Chicago's MOB Fest in July, and a 9-song rally from behind to defeat Belarus at Los Angeles' Viper Room in late August. League officials and press club insiders have taken particular notice of King's decisive contributions throughout the season, but the profoundly accomplished drummer remains modest: "I'm just happy to be in the game," he says, "and until my Reebok endorsement comes through, I'm planning to give this team 110 percent. Maybe even more, depending on... you know... stuff."

Teammates Alex Gaddis (bass) and James Diers (forward) complete Love-cars' starting squad. Both return to action this fall after minor wrist and hair injuries during the off-season.

Those in attendance at CB's Gallery can expect to see elements of the same strategy employed on Chump Lessons, the group's debut effort on No Alternative Records, as well as patterns and combinations previously unseen by New York listeners. While early odds-makers are forecasting stiff competition from Switzerland, China, Brazil and Creeper Lagoon, Love-cars is still seeded firmly in the upper ranks as the opening ceremonies approach.
