celebrated his 14th loop around the calendar. then after rocking out on a 6 string... rounding up some fellow
punk-a-thoners and sloshing through some kiss and motorhead covers to grab the respect of fellow high schoolers... he discove#FAF804
swans. one spin of their 2nd lp "cop" changed his view of music forever.
between the years of '86 and '92 carty spent half his time touring, releasing a record and singles with
the band control (who was produced by al
kyzis from swans, and they toured
with/opened for henry rollins, bratmobile, rancid,
psychic tv, live skull, etc). the other half
was spent doing electronic soundscape under the name manipulation, as well as commissioned soundtracks for OSU films and, for example,
the melissa colten installation "alamo" at the aldo
castillo gallery in Chicago. he did a brief
stint with the junky slamathon group foil in ohio, and was even asked to join laughing hyaenas
(which he wisely didn't).
after relocating to minneapolis, his first project involved overblue. their released single was nominated as single of the year at
the MMA. next came phonejob: cutie fruitie punk by the numbers. carty's next fired up project was
the deep bends of pleasant stitch. he released a track on his own on the "future perfect: music for listening" cd under the name
squelch one. he has also participated in a most
happy sound since the start. carty is available
for commission, weddings or barmitzvahs on notice. |
